Staying at The Grand Hotel Kempinski Vilnius

When we got the opportunity to visit Lithuania and Vilnius due to our friends wedding, I immediately started my little booking.com search for accommodation. The prices for accommodation in Vilnius were really wallet friendly so we decided to treat ourselves to a stay at The Grand Hotel Kempinski located in Vilnius Old Town. The plan was to arrive around lunch time, enjoy an afternoon tea and then chill in the spa and enjoy a quiet evening walking around the Old Town… Unfortunately our flights got changed so we arrived really late and couldn’t enjoy neither afternoon tea or spa, but I would definitely consider staying here if/when we visit Vilnius again.

You can find my little Vilnius travel guide here.

The Room

Upon arrival we were greeted by the super professional and friendly staff who offered us a glass of sparkling wine, before showing us up to our room. We had opted for a Deluxe Room with Balcony which had views out front of the hotel over the cathedral square and could spot Gediminas Castle Tower. There were tea & coffee making facilities int the room, a lovely shower and bath and the most comfortable bed I think I’ve ever slept in. Just like a soft cloud of cosy. We really had such a good experience with the hotel and I’m so sad we didn’t get to enjoy more of it.

The Dinner

As we arrived late, after a really long day of traveling, we were lucky enough to arrive in time before the food serving in the Duke’s bar closed. I chose langoustine bisque and a Club Sandwich that were both really good and Cody had the burger – which he described as one of the best burgers he has ever had. Along with dinner we ordered a cocktail each (whisky sour for me) and there was also warm bread for the table.

The Breakfast

The breakfast was set up in the Telegraphs Restaurant buffet style and we ended up sitting at the same table in Duke’s Bar, which is right next-door, which we had sat at for dinner the previous evening. There was also a breakfast menu where it was possible to order eggs, waffles, Lithuanian dishes and I went for the Crepes Suzette. Coffee and tea orders were also taken at the table. It was a really enjoyable breakfast and I’d highly recommend trying the cold smoked turkey and caviar as well as the cherry Danish pastry. The orange juice was freshly pressed and tasted amazing.

Next time

Next time I’ll definitely want to try the afternoon tea, as the hotel had a dessert display in their little café, located adjacent to the reception. And a visit to the spa will be at the top of the to-do list for next time as well.
