Staying at the Shakespeare Boutique Hotel Vilnius

If you’ve read my hotel reviews before, you might already know how important a good hotel breakfast is to me, so I was a little bit disappointed when I realised we would have to book a hotel for our last night in Vilnius without breakfast, as we had to leave early in the morning. Especially when it was such an interesting hotel as the Shakespeare Boutique Hotel Vilnius. The hotel is located on a side street off of Pilies gatvè in the Old Town and the building is several hundred years old. It has a very charming old fashioned style and each room is named after a historic person.

You can find my little Vilnius travel guide here.

The Voltaire Room

We were staying in the Voltaire Room. It almost feels like stepping into a writers abode with old books on the wall, wooden beams holding up the roof and an old fashioned interior design. I love when a hotel has a particular character and this one had plenty of it. The beds were comfortable, there were tea & coffee making facilities in the room and an in-bath shower. We had a view of the rooftops and towers of the old town and enjoyed hearing the bells rings out every hour as we enjoyed a quiet evening in bed. There’s a little supermarket around the corner on Pilies gatvè so we picked up some little things to have for dinner and I also couldn’t resist picking up dessert from Sugamour, which I’d also recommend if you’re visiting Vilnius.

Next time

I’ll want to enjoy a nice breakfast in the morning and not have to rush off to the airport. The hotel also looks to have a nice restaurant where they offer lunch, dinner or afternoon tea in a lovely setting. I’d recommend calling if you are looking to make a reservation as I never got a response to my email asking about a dinner reservation. We ended up just having snacks and nibbles in the room because we were too tired, but original plan was to have dinner in the hotel.
