PR invite from Stripe Communications // All thoughts and opinions are, of course, my own.
The Secret Garden is launching their summer 2023 gin in collaboration with Edinburgh bar The Pear Tree and I went along to the launch to check it out. The new flavour features Pear Blossoms picked from the two nearly 200 year old pear trees out front of the bar, in combination with fresh Lime.
The launch was supposed to take place outdoors in the lovely bar terrace at The Pear Tree, but as the weather decided we are having a cold end to April it was moved upstairs to one of the function rooms.
They had five different serves on offer, with the summer serve that featured the new gin, being one of them of course. I started on the summer serve which almost reminded me of a mojito with its strong lime influence. We also got to try it neat and it’s definitely a refreshing gin with both classic flavours and a nice twist with the pear blossom floral notes and zesty lime coming through. The kind of gin I really like!
Besides the summer serve there were also others featuring the other products from The Secret Garden, such as a Lemon Verbena serve – which was my favourite of the evening alongside the summer serve – and also served with the Elderflower & Jasmine Gin, Wild Gin and the Apothecary Rose Gin. The latter was a bit too artificially sweet to me, but that’s probably more likely the mixer rather than the gin itself.
This menu of gin serves will be available throughout May at the Pear Tree and will cost £8.50 so don’t miss out. I’d recommend the summer serve or Lemon Verbena!
