This distillery visit was part of my first ever trip to Islay.
Since there are still restrictions surrounding Covid-19, a lot of the distilleries were still closed or not offering any tours. We found at least a few things to do and it was almost nice to be so limited in choices so that we didn’t feel as if we were missing out. Lagavulin wasn’t offering any tours but we got a lovely tasting to explore some of their releases.

We were introduced to these four drams by the Visitor Centre Manager who led our tasting and introduced us to Lagavulins history.
My favourite was the Distillery Exclusive this time around, but it was also really interesting to try the Game of Thrones release as I previously hadn’t.
I couldn’t resist bringing this dress that I just finished making the days prior to our trip and thought it made for some cute photos in the tasting room!
Next time I would love to come back and do a tour or perhaps a warehouse tasting!
I would highly recommend going for a walk to Dunyvaig Castle to admire the view of both the distillery and the Lagavulin Bay. On the left of the photo you can also see the little pier which you can reach by walking to the right when you are looking at the entrance of the visitor centre. Such a lovely location!
