Staying at Skeabost Hotel on Isle of Skye

PR invite // All thoughts and opinions are, of course, my own.

Part of a press trip to The Singleton of Glen Ord och Talisker Distillery.

As part of my trip with Talisker to Isle of Skye we stayed the night at Skeabost Hotel. The hotel is located nearby to Portree, about a ten minute drive away. It’s right next to Loch Snizort Beag. Skeabost began life as a Victorian hunting lodge in 1871, but there has been a home of some sort at Skeabost since Viking times when the name meant The Sheltered House. The lovely Edinbane Lodge is not too far away either if you are looking for a gorgeous lunch or dinner, which I’d highly recommend.

I can’t really compare this accommodation to any other on the Isle of Skye as it was my first time on the island, but will hopefully add to the category with things to do and what else to explore in the coming years.

The Hotel, Location & Surroundings

This is a hotel that certainly feels old-fashioned and Scottish when you step through the door and the building feels very charming and old. However the rooms feel modern, clean and fresh which I really appreciated, as this style can feel a bit much sometimes, but is very charming in the right places. The surrounding area is full of lovely nature since it’s right by the water, where you can take a moment and admire the view from one of the benches. There’s also little ruins with information boards not too far away that you can walk too and have a look around. We didn’t get to explore the restaurant on this occasion but looks like a lovely spot, located in an extension on one side of the main building.

The Room

My room was located on the ground floor and had a little terrace part with views towards the river. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was modern with products from ESPA (which I love). Sure to be a comfortable stay when visiting the island. There’s also coffee and tea making facilities with shortbread in the room as well as robes.

The Breakfast

The breakfast was a classic Scottish offering of a smaller buffet style set up with fruits, ham and cheese, fruit juice, granola and yoghurt and you also got the option to order an item off the menu where you could choose from eggs, porridge and a full Scottish which is what I opted for. The breakfast staff was also super friendly and happy to stop for a little chat whilst taking the order.
