Fizz Friday with Prosecco DOC

PR invite // All thoughts and opinions are, of course, my own.

Fizz Friday was taking place in the Edinburgh Academy on this occasion, after previous having been rescheduled and moved from Merchants Hall. The academy provides a lovely venue for a tasting and Diana from Wine Event Scotland had done a brilliant job in organising and setting up the evening. Each table was decorated and set up with tasting mats, glasses and details about the wines and treats we would be trying. The evening consisted of 10 (!) different Proseccos and the last three were paired with food. The food in question was fudge from Ochil Fudge and biscuits from The Drinks Bakery. We also got to vote on whether the savoury or sweet pairing for each wine work better or worse than the other. The most outstanding paring was the lemon meringue fudge with the second last Prosecco as it was unexpected but worked really well.

Amongst the Drink Biscuits the parmesan, toasted pine and basil are my favourites. I’m so glad I had some to spare so I could bring them home with me.

The Cantina Pizzolato was the Prosecco that stood out the most to me with its green apple notes and the two rosé variants were also really nice.
