The Register Club is located in The Edinburgh Grand hotel by St Andrews Square in Edinburgh and they offer an afternoon tea starting from €28 in an elegant setting that I really enjoyed.
Immediately when you step through the door you are greeted by elegance and an Art Deco-esque interior design.
The selection was really good and definitely one of the better afternoon teas I’ve enjoyed in Edinburgh – if not the best so far. The food was fresh, the scones weren’t dry and the sweet things were of a good sample size (some of them slightly too big for my personal taste). There wasn’t any traditional sandwiches so if you’re not a fan then this might be a good one for you. Instead there was a haggis bonbon, mini bacon sliders, a salmon cracker and a wee black pudding roll so quite a Scottish influence – but they were really delicious.
The scones were very nice as well – this is where I’m usually the most picky but they passed the test!
I would definitely come back to this afternoon tea again and would highly recommend it to anyone who doesn’t mind some Scottish flavours instead of the classic sandwiches.
