Raasay Gin Reworked Event

PR invite // All thoughts and opinions are, of course, my own.

Raasay has reworked their gin and hosted an evening at Bonnie & Wild with cocktails and foods.

When the Raasay whisky was launched it arrived with a beautiful glass bottle which had been designed with the island in mind through using rocks and fossils moulded in to it. It gives the glass such a lovely texture and it is definitely one of my favourite whisky bottle designs. With the reworked gin, they’ve kept the spirit that they already liked but upgraded the bottle to one that looks like the whisky one, but round in its shape instead.

When we arrived we got to try a classic Gin & Tonic which was super refreshing and much appreciated after coming in from the summer heat. Bonnie & Wild had also been running a cocktail competition and we got to try the winner which reminded me of a mix of an amaretto sour and a bramble. I also heard rumours that there had been a collaboration with Joelato to make a Raasay Gin Gelato but unfortunately missed out on this as I had to leave slightly early – but doesn’t that sound delicious?

Master Distiller Alasdair Day was also present to talk more about the gin, which is triple distilled in their whisky stills and contains ten botanicals, including Raasay juniper, sweet orange peel, lemon peel and rhubarb root. A lovely gin that is easy to like and I would absolutely recommend trying it if you fancy trying a Scottish gin.
