Edinburgh Cocktail Week Preview

PR invite // All thoughts and opinions are, of course, my own.

Edinburgh Cocktail Week is taking place between the 7th and 16th October and involves 120 bars where you can get £5 cocktails when buying a wristband and they also put up a cocktail tent in the festival square featuring various pop up bars, street food, music and events.

I’m also looking forward to going to the pre-launch event in two weeks and will of course share more after that as well!

This evening we met up and walked between four different bars to try their Edinburgh Cocktail Week exclusives, which I’ve shared here below for you.

One Square

One Spritz, One Love” was made with their own One Square Gin, a cognac based pear liqueur and an in-house made white wine and rosemary syrup topped with Prosecco and soda. It was also decorated with flowers from their own garden which was a lovely touch. A very refreshing start to the evening and reminded me of my favourite Alpine spritz tipple “Hugo”. Definitely a cocktail I’d order again. One Square will also offer different gins paired with nibbles.

If you are someone who likes Pina colada, and getting caught in the rain… then the “Little Cubana” might be your style with Malibu, Passoa, lime juice, Havan Club rum and pineapple juice. Delightfully tropical!

They also made us an improvised, yet tasty shot which you’ll see in the photo above.

Innis & Gunn

Purple Rain” would be perfect for someone who loves parma violets, but was perhaps just a tad too sweet for my own taste. It’s made with violet gin, lemon juice, Butterfly Pea Tea Infusion and Prosecco. They were missing an ingredient, hence why it is not purple, but will be for the event.

Eve at Virgin Hotels Edinburgh

This cocktail called “Chuckleberry Thief” belonged to the Prestige cocktail category that are £9 instead of £5 with the Edinburgh Cocktail Week Wristband. It was really tasty however and made with mostly Edinburgh based ingredients like Edinburgh Gin, Lucky Chuckleberry, Bon Accord soda and also Grapefruit Sherbet from Bristol Syrup Company. Very refreshing and really a reminder of how lovely grapefruit can be! Definitely one of my favourites from the evening. The Eve bar has not yet opened, but will do so within the next few weeks, so it was lovely to see a preview of this space as well.
