Staying at Downtown Camper by Scandic in Stockholm

Downtown Camper by Scandic is a four star hotel located by Brunkebergs Torg in the city centre of Stockholm. It’s a ten minute walk from the main train station and close to Old Town as well. An ideal location for exploring Stockholm and it’s also a lovely hotel.

The Hotel

The hotel has an urban camping vibe and there’s many corners to explore. From the rooftop cocktail bar The Nest, to a sound experience to relax the mind in the net – a suspended net several metres in the air which acts like an activity venue. The hotel also offers a lovely spa, which I’m telling you more about further down – and sometimes events like a collaboration with Plogga – where you pick up a Plogga bag and then collect as much rubbish as you can outside on the streets. When you return you can claim your reward in the form of a tote bag with body care products.

The Room

We were staying in a Spacious Double Room which had a window towards a smaller street, a large king sized bed and overall felt really comfortable and spacious. The theme continues in the same “urban camper” vibe and features amenities to make coffee and tea, a bathtub with overhanging shower and shampoo, conditioner and body wash from the brand Dot Stockholm in their bespoke scent.

The Breakfast

The breakfast at Downtown Camper is so good. There’s so many options and even some seasonal treats I wasn’t expecting like saffron buns and semolina porridge with optional lingonberries. What I also really like is that everything feels well maintained and fresh. There’s granola, pastries, fruits, waffles and pancakes, bread, cheese and of course juices and hot drinks. Even if you are not staying here I could recommend stopping by for a breakfast if you are looking for a treat-yourself morning!

The Nest Spa

Access to The Nest Spa is available at an additional charge, and as a hotel guest you get a discount, but it’s also possible to visit the spa just for a couple of hours even if you are not staying the night. It’s a gorgeous spa with a heated outdoors rooftop pool, sauna, various showers and adjacent bar. When you “check in” for your selected time slot you get a robe and slippers as well as a towel and you can also select an additional DIY treatment. I think the best part of our spa experience was just sitting in the warm water, as the air was freezing, and just enjoy the moment. When you’ve been traveling or exploring for hours it’s nice to just relax and be. There were also citrus water and fruit available, but when the bar opens at 12 you can also order drinks from here to enjoy by the pool. We went during the day which was very chill but I can imagine there being more of an exciting vibe later on if that’s your thing.
