The Raging Bull is located on Lothian Road in central Edinburgh and went through a refurb just before lockdown and now has a very cosy Art Deco inspired vibe throughout the building. The staff is super friendly and we had a wonderful time with Ross who hosted our Cocktail Masterclass. They change their menu every 6/7 months between a Summer Menu and a Winter menu but are also happy to make cocktails after preferences or classics if you ask for it.
Cocktail Masterclass
The Cocktail masterclass was hosted downstairs in their events space, which is also open for the public during the busy times on weekends. During the Cocktail Masterclass you get to choose two cocktails from their menu that you then, with guidance from your host, get to make yourself as you step behind the bar. It might also be a good idea to listen closely to the information your host tells you as it might win you a shot or two…
Since The Raging Bull has a whole page of different versions of Espresso Martini-esque cocktails I couldn’t resist choosing their Salted Caramel Espresso Martini as one of my choices. It was made with Makers Mark Bourbon and Kahlua and was really creamy and delicious. For my second choice I was going to go for the Bee Kind with Lind & Lime Gin and St Germain but was convinced by my fellow cocktail makers to go for something more “instagrammable” however when I come back I’ll definitely try that one because it sounds delicious! Instead I chose one of their Pride Month specials: the Heartstopper, which is made with vodka, strawberry and cherry and tastes just like Haribo hearts. They also support a LGBTQ+ organisation by donating £1 for each cocktail sold from their Pride Month cocktails.
It was a fun experience and it was only the three of us as half our group didn’t show up which made it really friendly and relaxed. Could definitely recommend for a group of friends or if you’re looking for something to do for a hen party or stag night.
